National Center for Agricultural Training

The development and establishing:

The National Center for Agricultural Training is an advanced national initiative aimed at raising the level of training and qualification for agricultural personnel, thereby enhancing the efficiency of agricultural institutions, including government and non-governmental organizations, as well as development projects. It aligns with their training and consultancy needs.

The National Agricultural Training center was established in 1988.

The actual training in the center was launched in 1989 by a group of Arab experts and with support from UNDP and FAO.

The Center was transferred to the Agricultural Research and Extension Authority (AREA) in 1990.

The National Agricultural Training Center (NATC) is considered a national Center under AREA and its 13 branches (stations and centers) . Every branch of AREA consists of AREA is directly supervised by the NATC. The facilities for training in the center and in the branches of AREA serve as facilities for  the training program  supporting the trainees in all locations (Sana'a, Taez, Aden, Abyan, Al-Hudaidah, Mukalla, Seiyun and Mareb).

The National Agricultural Training Center (NATC) conducts training , workshops and education campaigns in its premises at the Head Quarters and wherever training is required based on the request of the customers whether these are Government institutions , Development Projects or NGOs.

Services Provided by the National Agricultural Training Center:

The NATC provides training and consultancy services with high level of quality and profession which enables trainees to acquire high level of skills and training in their field of work or interest and as per the requirements of the customers and beneficiary institutions and or organizations. Examples of these services can be summarized as follows.

Centralized training courses which are announced annually in the context of the NATC training program for the agriculture sector.

Contractual training courses as per the needs of institutions and development projects.

Mobile extension campaigns.

Research and studies and base line surveys.

Training needs and prepare training programs.

Training impact assessment.

Curricula and training contents and training sessions (curricula development).

Meetings, workshops and conferences in different fields of interest.

Coordination with all pertinent agencies in the field of training including provision of trainers and training materials.

Technical advice in training and Human Resource Development.

Studies and research activities in the field of training with emphasis on training needs assessment and evaluation of training and assessment of the training impact.

The NATC issues certificate of participation for all training courses and for those who actively attended these courses .

The NATC organizes a pre and post testing evaluation of the training in every training course to assess the progress achieved in every training course and the perception of trainees on the quality of training provided and the expertise of trainers in the training course. 

Location of NATC :

The location of the National Training Center is Mafrak Al-Hammam  which is about 12 km North of Dhamar City on the main road connecting Dhamar and Sana'a . The Center has its own building in the compound of AREA.

The main characters of the NATC location is as follows:

Easy access to the NATC.

Quite place which allows trainees concentrate on studying their training. program and training materials.

The availability of training grounds in the vicinity of the NATC such as greenhouses, experimental station, livestock facilities.

The NATC is also equipped with recreation facilities such playground and botanical garden.

The NATC has a library and audiovisual facilities as well as reading room.

The NATC has access to a modern laboratory for training in soil, plant and water analysis.

Training Auditorium :

The NATC has several training rooms and halls with adequate facilities and audio visual aids. The total number of training rooms is four with up to date equipments for training. The capacity of each room ranges from 25 – 35 trainees. Moreover, the NATC has two training halls accommodating 50 trainees each. The center has a small room for workshops and several offices and a mall library, recreation room and a buffet.
