Sana'a... A field day for grape growers in Bani Bahloul, Khawlan District
Sana'a, 2 Rabi Al-Awwal 1445 AH / September 17, 2023 (Saba) - The Regional Station for Highland Research conducted a field day for grape farmers in Bani Bahloul, Khawlan Directorate in Sana'a.
The field day is part of the Farm School for Integrated Grape Crop Management, implemented by the Regional Station through the Sana'a Basin Project since the beginning of the grape season.
During the field day event, the head of the research team, composed of plant protection, land, and water specialists, Eng. Ahmed Al-Jalal, explained that a demonstration field was allocated and used to carry out agricultural operations under the supervision of the research team. The aim was to compare the results of the studied and unstudied research agricultural operations in a similar field using conventional methods.
He pointed out that the Farm School for Integrated Grape Crop Management started at the beginning of the grape season to keep up with all stages of grape fruit production, starting from flowering to harvesting.
Dr. Rafiq Al-Sharabi, a researcher in plant protection, and Dr. Yasser Al-Jawfi, a researcher in post-harvest treatments, emphasized that the Farm School program includes awareness activities for farmers regarding the studied and unstudied research agricultural operations, as well as sound agricultural practices in grape tree care, including weeding, pruning, irrigation, pest control, and more.
Furthermore, Eng. Hafthallah Al-Qurdi, the Director of Agricultural Extension at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, provided clarification on healthy agricultural operations and their role in producing large quantities and high-quality grape fruits.
